If you see a track you like on this feed, you can add the song to a playlist, follow the artist or share it to your social channels. Every day, this feed - which is testing in the U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Canada - will recommend 15 songs. Like TikTok, these songs and accompanying canvas loops will be presented in a vertical video feed, which Spotify was first spotted testing in November (you can even buy houses now in a short-form, vertical video feed - are we okay?). Now, the streaming service is testing a personalized feed on the app's home screen, which introduces users to new music through a feed of canvas loops (AKA, those GIFs that appear when you're listening to certain songs - Olivia Rodrigo's "Brutal" is accompanied by loop of a cake being smashed, for example). This new page, confirmed to TechCrunch to be in development, pulls together your friend’s listening activity and updates to public playlists that you’re following – presumably, this would include updates to collaborative playlists you are a part of.
In testing now, Spotify “Community” is an expansion of “Friend Activity” from the desktop app. That’s why it was so confusing that most features for Spotify friends were not available on Android or iOS. While not everyone is a fan of the functionality, it certainly has a lot of potential to be fun.
That tab, when enabled, could show what your Spotify or Facebook friends were up to on the platform, so you could check out songs they were listening to.
